 Joint Youth Project

In 1998 , IPCC and Melitz jointly organized a series of seminars and lecture programs for Palestinian and Israeli Youth titled: Leading the Way. The three months long program was attended by 28 student leaders, 14 from each side. The project aimed to understand youth perceptions of each other and open dialogue for exploring the impact of Palestinian Israeli conflict on both communities. The program aimed at reconstructing dialogue between the two parties to become a vital instrument in breaking down stereotypes as an efficient mechanism for constructive action. Interaction between the students was focused on four different levels: interpersonal, cross-cultural, social and political. The activities took place in Palestinian and an Israeli towns and hosted lectures given by political leaders and journalists.

Most of the Palestinian participants were from Birzeit University and Al-Quds University. All the seminar activities and expenses were divided equally between IPCC and MELITZ. A follow-up committee was established comprising of four students: two Palestinian and two Israeli whose role was to decide the content and the discussion for the final meeting.
